- Prepare 1 cup of red lentil.
- Prepare 1 tsp of cumin pdr.
- You need 1/2 tsp of coriander pdr.
- Prepare 1 1/2 tbsp of fresh ginger.
- Take 1 1/2 tbsp of fresh garlic.

- Use 1 tsp of paprika.
- Use 1 tsp of cayenne.

- Prepare 1 of bayleaf.
- Use 2 of green cardamon.
- Provide 1/2 tsp of salt or to taste.
- You need 1 tsp of cumin seed (replace with pdr) black mustard seed (optional).
- Take 1 cup of onion fine chop.
Steps to make Red Lentil (Dal) :
- remove debris from lentil wash and soak for 30-40 min.
- boil 2 cups water, add lentils cook till expanded and desired tenderness. keep a little firm as it will continue to cook with rest of ingredients later. remove scum after boil. drain and add to other mixture.
- chop onions, tomato, cilantro, kale, and jalapeno (if you want it chopped or place in whole).
- mince the ginger and garlic
- heat oil on medium, add onions, fry till golden brown
- add powdered spices, cinnamon, clove, cardamon, and fry 1 min
- add tomatoes garlic ginger
- add cilantro and kale fry 1-2 min
- combine the lentils with mixture and let cook on low heat till flavours come through and desired tenderness is reached.
